Thirteen Players Move on to HHSAA State Championship

KJGA members Caleb Ito and Juliette O’Shaughnessy were crowned champions at the 2026 KIF Championship Tournament at Wailua. This event determines the KIF Individual Champions as well as the individual qualifiers for the HHSAA David Ishii State Golf Championship. On the girls side it was a back and forth battle between Juliette and fellow KJGA member and team mate Mehana Guy. Both shot 87 in round one and after the first nine on day two Juliette went in to the back nine with a one shot lead. Mehana grabbed the lead on the tenth hole with a birdie to Juliette’s bogey but after a tight back and forth on the remaining 8 holes Juliette was able to come out on top and secure her first KIF Individual title.

On the boys side it was 2025 KJGA 15-18 Boys Player of the Year, Renyn Lee leading the pack with an opening round 75 and a two shot lead. After the front nine on day 2 however Renyn found himself one shot behind teammate and fellow KJGA member Caleb Ito who shot even par on the front nine and just one shot ahead of fellow KJGA members Stirling McLoughlin and Logan Laymon.

It was a four-man race and the title was up for grabs on the final nine. In the end it was Caleb Ito who put together a 2 under par 34 on the back nine at Wailua to shoot 77/70 147 and claim his first KIF Individual title.

Congratulations to all the golfers who qualified to move on to the State Championship.
